About SADG
The Seattle Delta Gamma Alumnae chapter was established in 1907 and has continued to grow through the years. In 1991, other area groups merged to form the Seattle Area alumnae chapter: Seattle, Seattle Junior, King County and Bellevue-Mercer Island. In 2007, we expanded again when we added the Bellingham- Mt. Baker chapter. Our alumnae chapter addresses the shared interests of more than 2,300 members representing 120 chapters of initiation and aspires to be the common link for all area Delta Gammas.
The SADG chapter, co-sponsors the Champagne & Chocolates Gala with Guide Dogs for the Blind, this annual fundraiser auction supports veterinary care costs for Guide Dogs in the Seattle area and funds the Seattle Area Lectureship in Values and Ethics. Currently, 64 puppies are being raised and 36 Guide Dogs are working in King County. To date, SADG has given over $300,000 to Guide Dogs and has been credited by the Delta Gamma Foundation for thousands of service hours. In 2008, we donated $12,500 from the auction to the Delta Gamma Foundation; the largest donation made to the Foundation by an alumnae group.
In addition to our involvement with Guide Dogs we also assist persons who are blind or visually impaired through Community Services for the Blind, Labels & Box Tops for Education, tactile projects for the Louis Braille School and vision screening. Community outreach projects include the Arthritis Foundation, Breast Cancer Research, Dress for Success, the Ronald McDonald House, and community education on disaster preparedness. Our newest goal is to encourage our members to “go green”.
Ultimately, SADG is recognized for its philanthropic work, in fact we were honored with the prestigious HK Stuart Award for Service at the 2008 Delta Gamma Convention for diversity in outreach. That is why efforts continue, at social, collegiate and community events to encourage our members to work together in making a difference.
