How do I thank each of you for all you do for GDB, and even more, for what you did for me this weekend by bringing Lizette Johnson, Agnes's puppy raiser, to our auction! Even now as I sit at the computer trying to express my appreciation and joy, my heart fills so full with emotion and I start to cry tears of joy! Because you made it happen, the Liebergs and the Johnsons spent many wonderful hours of laughter and stories together this weekend. the last time we were together was when Lizette presented me with Agnes upon our graduation. While Lizette and I do communicate via email, I had no idea when or if I would ever see her again. The love and grattitude I feel toward her for the time and attention she took to raise Agnes is bottomless and seeing her loving and interacting with Agnes now 4 years later was like a miracle. We got to hear lots of cute baby Aggie stories, and they got to hear lots of Agnes the guide dog stories. It truly was a love-filled weekend for us all! and, the fact that our dear wonderful friends the Reiters were able to host and help entertain the Johnsons when due to my illness we were not, just made it that much more special.
When I first became involved with your work on behalf of GDB, I did so with a watchful eye. There are so many instances when those with sight forget the mission they selected and become the drivers without really seeking or hearing input from those without sight. Over the years, you continue to show me that you represent a working group of folks who really do "get it." A working group who never forgets its mission, even when sometimes that mission has ridiculous road blocks tossed in its path. What you did for me this past weekend will remain with me for the rest of my life. There are not words I can find to thank you which adequately express the feeling in my heart!
For all you do singly and collectively, cheers! and now, on to 2011!
Marlaina Lieberg
